In The Life

I'm Cassie. My husband (Justin) and I were married July 23, 2011 and  there has never been a day, nor will there be, where I regret it. We are from Track Town USA- Eugene, Oregon and both went and met in college at Northwest Christian University. I played Volleyball and Softball for 4 years there and Justin played golf.
After we both graduated, Justin and I moved across the world to Abu Dhabi, in the United Arab Emirates. We are both teachers at the same school, Justin teaches 5th grade and I teach 2nd. It has been a very challenging and rewarding experience. Justin and I both are obsessed have a love for CrossFit. We have found a passion through fitness and it is something we can motivate each other through, daily.
We are blessed to have each other and so blessed with the life God has given us. We give all the glory to Him!

Life in the UAE:

The UAE is a special place. Here you see a mixture of so many people, from so many different parts of the world. You can walk down the street and see a woman fully covered from head to toe and right behind her is a westerner in shorts and a tank top. When I came to visit Justin in December of 2010, when he popped the big question, I had no idea what was in store for me. I had heard many different things and many different opinions on what the Middle East would be like, and Abu Dhabi and Dubai was none of them.
People are here to work and save money...even though with everything so accessible, you end up spending most of it. Traveling the world is at your finger tips and every break or long weekend people are always booking some sort of holiday.
The UAE in short bullets:
1. The weather is as hot as everyone says. And then add a few more degrees. Plus humidity.
2. Sand is everywhere. You will see a gorgeous building and right next to it will be a big pile of sand and weeds.
3. Camels are real. Justin and I love when we drive up to Dubai in the morning because there are camels literally walking and feeding right on the side of the roads.
4. There is tons of construction everywhere. I wonder when the day will come where you won't see a crane building a high rise or a new road being built.
5. The locals are wealthy. Yes, it is one of the wealthiest places in the world. People spend money here like nobodies business.
6. You will literally want to kill all the other drivers on the road. If you don't have road rage, come here! You'll get it in 5 minutes.
7. There are some of the coolest and most beautiful buildings in the world here.
8. On the weekends, everyone goes to the beach or the mall.
9. You can shop in one of the largest malls in the world, ride a camel, ski in the indoor ski arena, buy a bar of gold, visit a mosque and lay on the beach all in the same day.

It really is a cool place to be. I think everyone should come at least once in their life to experience the crazy lifestyle, swim in the gulf, go to the top of the highest building in the world, and ride a camel. Travel as much as you can!

1. Abu Dhabi skyline. 2 Ferrari World. 3. The Emirates Palace. 4. The Burj Al Arab in Dubai. 5. The Palm in Dubai. 6. The Burj Khalifa.
